The characteristics of the rash - its distribution, morphology, and progression - are also integral to diagnosis. A careful examination of other systems can reveal associated signs, such as arthritis in Lyme disease or pharyngitis in scarlet fever.

The treatment should be tailored to the specific etiology. Antibiotics, antivirals, or antifungals may be needed for infectious causes. Autoimmune conditions may require steroids or immunosuppressants. Drug-induced rashes necessitate discontinuation of the offending agent. Close follow-up is essential to monitor the patient's response to treatment and to adjust the management plan as necessary.
Evaluating a patient with fever and rash requires a systematic approach, encompassing a detailed history, physical examination, and targeted investigations. By considering the broad range of potential etiologies, clinicians can arrive at an accurate diagnosis and initiate appropriate management.
