Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) pose a significant public health challenge in India, contributing substantially to the country's disease burden. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the current situation, the challenges faced, and the strategies required for effective control.
India's tropical climate and high population density provide a conducive environment for the proliferation of vectors such as mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, leading to a high incidence of VBDs. Diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya are endemic in various regions, causing significant morbidity and mortality.
The control of VBDs in India faces numerous challenges. These include inadequate surveillance, lack of public awareness, and insufficient vector control measures. Additionally, climate change and urbanization contribute to the spread and intensification of these diseases.

Despite the challenges, significant strides have been made in controlling VBDs in India. However, there is a need for continued efforts, with a focus on strengthening surveillance, enhancing public awareness, and implementing effective vector control strategies. Healthcare professionals, with their expertise and commitment, are integral to these endeavors.
