Recent advancements in the field have revolutionized our approach towards this disease, offering promising therapeutic avenues and improved patient outcomes. This article provides an overview of the latest trends and innovations in hepatitis management.
The advent of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) has significantly altered the landscape of hepatitis C management. These drugs, which target specific steps in the hepatitis C virus lifecycle, have demonstrated cure rates exceeding 90%. The development of pangenotypic DAAs, effective against all genotypes of hepatitis C, has further simplified treatment protocols and expanded access to therapy.
While antiviral therapy can suppress hepatitis B virus replication, it does not provide a definitive cure.
