Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) remain the cornerstone of PUD treatment. However, recent developments in drug therapy, like vonoprazan, offer superior acid suppression. H. pylori eradication therapy has also evolved, with quadruple therapy now recommended as first-line treatment.
Emerging therapies, including stem cell therapy and bioengineered tissues, hold potential for treating refractory ulcers. Personalized medicine, guided by genetic testing, may optimize PUD management in the future.
Advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies have revolutionized PUD management. Continual research and innovation are essential to further improve patient outcomes.
