Grade 3 hemorrhoids can be a difficult condition to treat. This type of hemorrhoid is often the most painful and can cause significant discomfort and disruption to everyday life. Fortunately, there are a number of innovative strategies for pain relief that can help patients find relief. This article will explore some of the most effective strategies for tackling grade 3 hemorrhoids and provide advice on how to best manage the condition.
Hemorrhoids are swollen veins located in the lower rectum and anus. They are usually caused by increased pressure on the veins in the rectal area, which can be caused by straining during bowel movements, sitting for long periods of time, or pregnancy. Grade 3 hemorrhoids refer to hemorrhoids that have prolapsed, meaning they have fallen out of the anal opening and cannot be pushed back in. Grade 3 hemorrhoids can cause significant discomfort and pain, as well as bleeding and itching.
The most common non-surgical treatment for grade 3 hemorrhoids is rubber band ligation. This involves placing a rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoid to cut off the blood supply, causing it to shrink and eventually fall off. This procedure is usually done in a doctor’s office and can be done under local anesthesia. Other non-surgical treatments include sclerotherapy, infrared coagulation, and cryotherapy.
If non-surgical treatments are not effective in treating grade 3 hemorrhoids, surgery may be necessary. The most common type of surgery for grade 3 hemorrhoids is hemorrhoidectomy. This procedure involves the removal of the entire hemorrhoid, including the surrounding tissue. It is usually done under general anesthesia and can be done as an outpatient procedure. Other surgical treatments include stapled hemorrhoidopexy, which is a less invasive procedure that involves the use of staples to reduce the size of the hemorrhoid.
In addition to medical treatments, there are a number of lifestyle changes that can help manage grade 3 hemorrhoids. These include:
