The rise of antibiotic resistance, largely due to overuse and misuse, has become a significant global health concern. Consequently, the need for prudent prescribing, particularly of antibiotics, is more critical than ever. They not only optimize clinical outcomes but also minimize unintended consequences of antimicrobial use, including resistance.
Prudent prescribing of antibiotics is an essential part of good clinical practice. It helps to prevent antibiotic resistance and ensures the continued effectiveness of these life-saving drugs. By understanding and implementing strategies for rational antibiotic use, healthcare professionals can play a crucial role in tackling the global health challenge of antibiotic resistance.
