Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation is an integral part of clinical practice, providing valuable insights into the patient's cardiac health. However, the complexity of ECG readings can often pose challenges, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of its principles and applications.
ECG interpretation begins with a clear understanding of the basic components: P wave, QRS complex, and T wave. These represent atrial depolarization, ventricular depolarization, and ventricular repolarization respectively. Any deviation from the normal pattern could indicate a cardiac abnormality.

ECG findings should not be interpreted in isolation. A comprehensive clinical correlation considering the patient's symptoms, history, and physical examination findings is essential. For example, a patient with chest pain and ST segment elevation on ECG is likely experiencing an acute myocardial infarction.
