Consensus guidelines from organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology advocate for risk-based screening, timely intervention, and regular monitoring tailored to disease severity and progression risk. For glaucoma, target intraocular pressures are individualized, and visual field stability guides escalation of therapy. In diabetic retinopathy, annual retinal assessment is recommended for all patients with diabetes, with earlier and more frequent monitoring in high-risk individuals. AMD guidelines emphasize patient education, nutritional supplementation, and prompt initiation of anti-VEGF therapy for neovascular disease.
