Ayurveda, one of the world’s oldest medical systems, has long emphasized the timing of meals as a determinant of health. Emerging research now elucidates the physiological basis for these recommendations, highlighting the interplay between circadian rhythms, metabolic pathways, and functional well-being. For healthcare professionals, understanding Ayurvedic chrononutrition offers an evidence-based approach to improving patient outcomes in the context of lifestyle-related diseases and quality of life.
Disruption of circadian rhythms is increasingly recognized as a contributing factor to metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and mood disorders.
