Accurate and rapid diagnostics can guide the appropriate use of antibiotics by identifying the causative organism and its antibiotic susceptibility. This allows for targeted therapy, reducing the need for broad-spectrum antibiotics and thus minimizing the risk of resistance.
In conclusion, promoting patient health requires a comprehensive approach to the rational use of antibiotics. By understanding antibiotic resistance, adhering to principles of rational use, implementing antibiotic stewardship programs, and using diagnostics effectively, we can help combat the global threat of antibiotic resistance and ensure the longevity of these vital drugs.
