Common causes include malignancy, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine abnormalities, and psychiatric conditions. Rarely, infectious diseases or autoimmune disorders may be implicated.
Imaging studies, such as CT scans or endoscopies, can be useful in certain cases. However, their routine use in the absence of specific indications may not be cost-effective.
Decoding the mystery of UWL requires a systematic approach, balancing the need for a comprehensive evaluation with judicious use of resources. Early recognition and appropriate management of the underlying cause can significantly improve patient outcomes.
