This review examines the clinical pharmacology of such co-administration, focusing on exposure characterization, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions, and evidence-based considerations for clinicians. Introduction

Management of patients on combined Ayurvedic and conventional therapy involves risk assessment, patient education, and close monitoring. Clinicians should encourage open disclosure of all products used, assess the necessity of each agent, and consider potential interactions during prescribing. Dose adjustments, enhanced monitoring, and temporary discontinuation of one or more agents may be warranted in high-risk scenarios. Multidisciplinary collaboration among physicians, pharmacists, and traditional practitioners is crucial for optimizing outcomes and minimizing harm.

Recent advances in analytical chemistry and pharmacometrics have enabled more precise exposure characterization of herbal and conventional drug constituents. Clinicians are advised to consult updated interaction databases and involve pharmacovigilance systems when managing patients on combined therapies.
