Adaptive capacity—the individual\'s ability to adjust to physical, psychological, and social stressors—has been identified as a pivotal determinant of overall quality of life in this context. Understanding the mechanisms underlying adaptive capacity, and implementing interventions to enhance it, is essential for optimizing outcomes in patients with complex multimorbidity.

Mind-body therapies, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and personalized exercise programs have demonstrated efficacy in enhancing adaptive capacity and reducing symptom burden. Ongoing research into biomarkers of resilience and physiological reserve may enable earlier identification of patients at risk for decompensation and guide more proactive interventions.
Current guidelines emphasize the importance of individualized, patient-centered care plans that incorporate patient preferences, functional goals, and quality of life outcomes.
