Speciality: Embryologist
Description:
Welcome to our podcast. Today, we’re exploring how embryos are evaluated during IVF treatment. After eggs are fertilised in the lab, embryologists closely monitor the embryos as they develop. They assess key factors like the number of cells, the symmetry and appearance of these cells, and the rate of development each day. On specific days—usually day three and day five—embryos are graded based on their quality and developmental milestones. High-quality embryos are more likely to implant successfully and lead to a healthy pregnancy. These careful evaluations help doctors select the best embryos for transfer or freezing, increasing the chances of IVF success. Understanding this process can offer reassurance and clarity for anyone navigating fertility treatment.
