Prostate Enlargement: Symptoms and Treatment

Speciality: Urology

Speaker:

Dr. ARIJIT MUKHOPADHYAY | Consultant Urologist

Description:

Welcome to Health Matters. Today, we’re exploring prostate enlargement, a common condition in men as they age. An enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, can cause symptoms like frequent urination, difficulty starting or stopping urination, and a weak urine stream. While these symptoms can be uncomfortable, prostate enlargement is not usually linked to cancer. Treatment options range from lifestyle changes, such as reducing caffeine and alcohol, to medications that relax the muscles around the prostate. In some cases, minimally invasive procedures or surgery may be recommended. If you notice urinary changes, it’s important to speak to your doctor for advice and early intervention.
