Early diagnosis of ACS is critical to improve patient outcomes. High-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays have revolutionised the diagnostic process, allowing for faster and more accurate detection of myocardial injury. Additionally, the use of advanced imaging techniques, such as coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA), provides non-invasive assessment of coronary artery disease presence and severity.
Therapeutic strategies for ACS have significantly evolved. The introduction of novel antiplatelet drugs, such as Ticagrelor and Prasugrel, have shown superior efficacy compared to traditional therapies. Furthermore, the role of early invasive strategies, including percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), has been reinforced, especially in high-risk patients.
Effective management of ACS patients extends beyond acute care. Comprehensive rehabilitation programs, lifestyle modifications, and secondary prevention measures are fundamental. The use of risk stratification tools, such as the GRACE score, assists in tailoring treatment and follow-up strategies to individual patient risk profiles. Moreover, ensuring patient adherence to medication regimens and regular follow-ups is paramount.
The management of ACS has significantly improved due to advancements in diagnostic techniques, treatment modalities, and an increased emphasis on patient-centred care. Continued research and innovation are essential to further enhance patient outcomes. Healthcare professionals must stay abreast of these advancements and incorporate them into their practice to provide optimal care for ACS patients.
