Chronic or recurrent pain may require a multidisciplinary approach involving gastroenterologists, surgeons, and pain management specialists.
Abdominal pain evaluation can be complex, but a systematic approach can help to unravel this complexity. A thorough initial assessment, judicious use of diagnostic tests, and appropriate management or referral are key to effective patient care. By maintaining a high index of suspicion and understanding the potential pathologies, clinicians can navigate this challenging area of medicine with confidence.
