Stroke symptoms often appear suddenly. The most common include facial drooping, arm weakness, and speech difficulties. Other signs may include vision problems, dizziness, and severe headache. The acronym F.A.S.T (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) can be used to remember these critical signs. It is essential to act immediately when these symptoms are observed, as prompt treatment can significantly improve prognosis.
Diagnostic tools such as CT scans and MRI are vital for confirming stroke diagnosis and determining its type. An ischemic stroke occurs due to a blocked artery, while a hemorrhagic stroke is caused by a ruptured blood vessel. These imaging tools help identify the stroke type, facilitating appropriate treatment decisions.
Treatment for stroke must be initiated promptly to minimize brain damage.
