The most common treatment for ERM is a surgical procedure called vitrectomy. During this procedure, the vitreous gel that fills the eye is removed and replaced with a gas or silicone oil bubble. This helps to reduce the tension on the retina and prevent further damage. In some cases, medications may be used to reduce inflammation and improve vision. Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, may be prescribed to reduce inflammation and improve vision.
