Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common health complication during pregnancy, affecting approximately 7% of all pregnancies. Early diagnosis is essential for effective GDM management. The American Diabetes Association recommends universal screening for all pregnant women between 24-28 weeks. Effective management of GDM is essential to optimize outcomes for both mother and baby. Early diagnosis, lifestyle modifications, glucose monitoring, pharmacotherapy, postpartum follow-up, and a multidisciplinary approach form the pillars of GDM management. By implementing these strategies, healthcare professionals can provide comprehensive care to women with GDM, thereby reducing the risk of adverse outcomes.
