Prognosis of syncope depends on the underlying cause. While reflex syncope has a benign course, cardiac syncope can be associated with increased mortality. Regular follow-ups are necessary to monitor the patient's response to treatment and adjust management strategies as necessary.
Mastering the medical approach to syncope requires a deep understanding of its pathophysiology, a systematic approach to diagnosis, and a tailored approach to management. It is crucial to remember that syncope is a symptom, not a disease, and the underlying cause must be identified and managed to improve patient outcomes.
