Emphasis is placed on recent advances and the integration of virtual coaching into rehabilitation protocols for diverse patient populations, highlighting its potential to enhance adherence, functional recovery, and long-term health outcomes.
Rehabilitation is a cornerstone of recovery in various medical conditions, including neurological, musculoskeletal, and cardiopulmonary disorders. Traditionally reliant on in-person interactions, rehabilitation has faced new challenges and opportunities with the advent of digital health. Virtual coaching, defined as the use of digital platforms to deliver personalized guidance and feedback, is gaining traction as a means to bridge gaps in access, improve patient engagement, and support individualized care plans. This article reviews the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, and management strategies related to virtual coaching in rehabilitation, synthesizing recent research and clinical guidelines.
The global burden of disability resulting from chronic diseases and injuries is substantial, with millions requiring ongoing rehabilitation.
