Recognizing the red flags in anemia and understanding the underlying mechanisms can guide the diagnostic approach and ensure timely treatment. It's crucial for healthcare professionals to maintain a high index of suspicion for anemia, particularly in high-risk groups. A systematic approach to diagnosis, guided by the patient's history, physical examination, and laboratory findings, can help identify the root cause and pave the way for effective management.
