CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thoughts and behaviors that may be contributing to the fear. In addition to professional treatment, there are several coping strategies that can help people with agoraphobia manage their symptoms. These strategies include: • Practicing relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation • Exercising regularly • Eating a healthy diet • Avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and drugs • Practicing positive self-talk • Connecting with supportive family and friends • Joining a support group
