Chemotherapy can have a profound psychosocial impact, leading to distress, anxiety, and depression. Proactive screening for these issues and early intervention, including psychological counseling and pharmacotherapy when necessary, can help manage these side effects.
Proactive management of chemotherapy side effects is critical to ensure treatment adherence, minimize patient distress, and improve overall outcomes. It requires a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that includes pharmacological interventions, regular monitoring, and psycho-social support. By adopting these strategies, healthcare professionals can significantly improve the chemotherapy experience for their patients.
