Prevention of HAIs involves a multi-faceted approach. Hand hygiene is the most critical element, followed by appropriate use of personal protective equipment, sterilization of medical devices, and antibiotic stewardship. Additionally, healthcare facilities should foster a culture of safety and implement infection prevention and control programs to reduce HAIs.
Healthcare professionals play a pivotal role in preventing HAIs. They must adhere to infection prevention guidelines, participate in ongoing education and training, and engage in quality improvement initiatives. Furthermore, they should advocate for patient safety and work collaboratively to create a safe healthcare environment.
