High-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) and trabecular bone score (TBS) provide more precise measurements of bone quality. These tools allow for earlier detection and intervention, potentially reducing the risk of fractures.
Recent years have seen the development of novel therapeutic agents. Romosozumab, an anti-sclerostin monoclonal antibody, has shown promising results in increasing bone mineral density and reducing fracture risk. Similarly, the use of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) has expanded, offering an alternative for patients intolerant to bisphosphonates.
