Unexplained weight loss (UWL) is a symptom that often presents a diagnostic challenge for clinicians due to its multifactorial etiology.
A thorough history, physical examination, and targeted investigations are essential in identifying the underlying cause. The diagnostic approach should be systematic, starting with ruling out common causes such as malignancies, gastrointestinal disorders, and endocrine diseases.
Management of UWL should be tailored according to the identified cause. In cases where no cause is found, regular follow-up is recommended to monitor for any emerging signs or symptoms.
UWL requires a comprehensive and systematic approach for evaluation. Early diagnosis and prompt management can significantly improve patient outcomes.
