With the prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) increasing globally, the need for effective management strategies has never been more crucial. Anticoagulation remains a cornerstone in AF management. The advent of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) has revolutionized the field. DOACs, such as dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban, have shown superior or comparable efficacy to warfarin, with a lower risk of intracranial bleeding. Further, they offer the advantage of fewer food and drug interactions and the elimination of regular INR monitoring.
