Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The management of ACS has seen remarkable advancements over the past years, with best practices being continuously refined to improve patient outcomes. This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide on the latest advancements and best practices in ACS management.
Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in the management of ACS, particularly in the areas of pharmacotherapy and interventional cardiology. Novel antithrombotic agents such as ticagrelor and prasugrel have shown superior efficacy and safety profiles compared to traditional antiplatelet therapies. Additionally, the development of drug-eluting stents has significantly reduced the risk of restenosis in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Early diagnosis and risk stratification remain the cornerstone of ACS management. The use of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays has improved the accuracy of ACS diagnosis. Furthermore, risk stratification tools such as the GRACE score are instrumental in guiding therapeutic decisions.
