Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in the management of ACS, particularly in the areas of pharmacotherapy and interventional cardiology. Novel antithrombotic agents such as ticagrelor and prasugrel have shown superior efficacy and safety profiles compared to traditional antiplatelet therapies. Additionally, the development of drug-eluting stents has significantly reduced the risk of restenosis in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Early diagnosis and risk stratification remain the cornerstone of ACS management. The use of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays has improved the accuracy of ACS diagnosis.
