This training should be tailored to the needs of the individual hospital and its staff, and should include practical guidance on implementing stewardship principles in daily practice.
Monitoring the use of antimicrobials and providing feedback to prescribers is another key element of ASPs. Regular feedback can help prescribers understand the impact of their prescribing habits on antimicrobial resistance and patient outcomes. This can lead to more judicious use of antimicrobials.
