Surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma is crucial, with early detection improving prognosis significantly.

Role of Liver Transplantation

Liver transplantation remains the ultimate treatment for liver cirrhosis. It is indicated in patients with decompensated cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma within Milan criteria, or severe complications unresponsive to medical therapy. Careful patient selection and timely referral to transplant centers are essential for optimal outcomes.
