Increasing recognition of the interplay between environmental exposures and health outcomes has driven multidisciplinary research exploring how inadequate housing—characterized by overcrowding, poor ventilation, dampness, mold, lack of heating or cooling, and exposure to environmental toxins—contributes to the chronic disease burden.
