Unexplained weight loss (UWL) presents a diagnostic challenge for physicians due to its broad differential diagnoses.
UWL can result from gastrointestinal, endocrine, psychiatric, or malignant conditions. A thorough history, physical examination, and appropriate investigations are paramount.
Management is condition-specific; however, nutritional support is universally crucial. Close follow-up is necessary to monitor response and adjust the treatment plan.
By adopting a systematic approach, clinicians can effectively diagnose and manage UWL, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
