In regions with limited access to advanced postoperative care, the burden is higher, highlighting the need for innovative, accessible recovery models. Integrating Ayurvedic principles, widely practiced in South Asia and increasingly recognized worldwide, offers a potential adjunct to mitigate disease burden and improve surgical outcomes.
Surgical trauma triggers a complex cascade involving inflammation, immune modulation, oxidative stress, and impaired tissue regeneration. Conventional management targets these responses, but incomplete resolution can impede recovery. Ayurvedic frameworks describe disease and recovery in terms of dosha imbalance (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), agni (digestive/metabolic fire), and ojas (vitality).
