Introduction

Etiology and Pathophysiology
The exact cause of PD is unknown, but it is believed to involve both genetic and environmental factors. Pathologically, PD is characterized by the loss of dopamine-producing neurons in the substantia nigra and the presence of Lewy bodies.
Clinical Presentation and Diagnosis
PD typically presents with motor symptoms such as bradykinesia, rigidity, and resting tremor. Non-motor symptoms can also occur. Diagnosis is primarily clinical, supported by neuro-imaging studies.
Treatment
Treatment is symptomatic, with levodopa being the most effective medication. Non-pharmacological approaches, such as physical therapy, are also important.
