Management depends on the underlying cause. For instance, alcohol-induced liver disease requires abstinence, while autoimmune hepatitis may necessitate immunosuppressive therapy. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, the most common cause of elevated liver enzymes, often responds to lifestyle modifications such as weight loss and exercise. In all cases, regular monitoring of liver enzymes is crucial to assess response to therapy and disease progression.
Understanding and managing elevated liver enzymes requires a systematic approach to identify the underlying cause. By integrating clinical, laboratory, and imaging data, physicians can diagnose and initiate appropriate treatment promptly. Keeping abreast of the latest advances in this field is essential to improve patient outcomes.
