Recent advances, emerging agents, and updated guideline recommendations are discussed, with an emphasis on efficacy, safety, and individualized protocol selection for diverse patient populations.

Introduction

Follicular synchronization refers to the targeted pharmacological modulation of ovarian follicle development, enabling uniform recruitment and growth of a cohort of antral follicles. Such synchronization is integral to the success of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) in ART, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and ovulation induction protocols. The clinical pharmacology of synchronization involves the judicious use of agents to suppress endogenous gonadotropin fluctuations, thereby aligning follicular growth and optimizing oocyte yield. Understanding the mechanisms, efficacy, and safety profiles of synchronization drugs is essential for tailoring individualized reproductive care and improving clinical outcomes.

Each approach has distinct pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profiles, influencing the timing and uniformity of follicular recruitment.
