If the cause of anemia remains unclear after initial evaluation or if the patient has a complex medical history, referral to a hematologist may be necessary. The management of anemia varies based on the underlying cause and may involve dietary modifications, medication, or even surgical intervention in some cases.
Understanding the complexity of anemia is key to its successful diagnosis and management. By using a systematic approach, clinicians can effectively diagnose and manage this common but often complex condition.
