Evidence-based prescribing (EBP) is a key component of modern healthcare that combines clinical expertise with the best available clinical evidence derived from systematic research. It has been proven to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. However, implementing EBP in daily practice can be challenging for physicians due to various barriers such as lack of time, resources, and knowledge. This article provides a comprehensive guide for physicians to overcome these barriers and effectively implement EBP.
EBP involves the judicious use of the current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. It requires physicians to integrate individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research.
