Abstract

Chronic inflammatory disorders (CIDs) such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and systemic lupus erythematosus are significant contributors to global morbidity and functional disability. Recent public health programs aim to mitigate disability through early detection, multidisciplinary management, and the implementation of evidence-based preventive strategies. This review synthesizes the current scientific understanding of CIDs, explores epidemiological trends, and highlights effective public health interventions designed to reduce disability. Emphasis is placed on mechanisms of disease, risk stratification, clinical features, diagnostic approaches, therapeutic modalities, emerging treatments, and alignment with contemporary clinical guidelines. This article provides healthcare professionals with a comprehensive resource for optimizing patient outcomes and reducing the burden of disability in populations affected by chronic inflammatory diseases.

Introduction

Chronic inflammatory disorders represent a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by persistent immune activation and tissue injury. International and national guidelines emphasize early diagnosis, treat-to-target approaches, and regular assessment of disease activity and functional status. Recommendations advocate for comprehensive management plans that incorporate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, patient-centered goal setting, and monitoring for comorbidities. Vaccination, infection screening, and lifestyle modification are integral to guideline-based care. Public health programs that align with these recommendations are essential for translating evidence into practice and achieving sustained disability reduction at the population level.
