The initial evaluation of a patient with suspected hypertensive emergency involves a thorough history, physical examination, and targeted diagnostic testing. The aim is to identify the extent of organ damage and underlying causes of hypertension. Immediate blood pressure reduction is typically required, although the degree and speed of reduction may vary depending on the specific clinical scenario.
