Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors have emerged as a promising class of lipid-lowering drugs. They work by increasing the number of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors on the liver, thereby reducing circulating LDL cholesterol levels. Clinical trials have shown their efficacy in reducing cardiovascular events.
The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) 2018 cholesterol guidelines incorporated several key changes.
