Treatment of dyspnea primarily targets the underlying cause. In cases of cardiac or pulmonary disease, interventions may include medications, lifestyle modifications, and in severe cases, surgery. For dyspnea related to anxiety or depression, cognitive-behavioral therapy and medications can be effective. Palliative care plays a critical role in managing dyspnea in end-of-life patients.

Modern healthcare offers a promising avenue for its effective management, with a focus on individualized patient care and the use of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.
