Enteric fever, predominantly caused by Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi, presents a significant global health challenge.
Modern diagnostic methods include blood culture, serological tests, and molecular techniques, offering improved sensitivity and specificity.
Antibiotic therapy remains the mainstay, with fluoroquinolones, third-generation cephalosporins, and azithromycin as preferred drugs. However, rising antimicrobial resistance necessitates vigilant monitoring and judicious use.
With evolving diagnostic tools and emerging antibiotic resistance, an updated approach to enteric fever is indispensable to ensure effective patient management and disease control.
