Abstract

Emotional adaptability is increasingly recognized as a critical determinant of psychological resilience and functional performance in high-stress occupations. This review synthesizes current evidence on the importance, assessment, and clinical implications of emotional adaptability screening among professionals exposed to chronic occupational stress, such as healthcare workers, first responders, and military personnel. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based screening approaches, the pathophysiological mechanisms underpinning emotional adaptability, risk factors for maladaptation, and emerging therapeutic and guideline-based strategies for optimizing workforce mental health.

The demands of high-stress occupations, including medicine, emergency response, and defense, place enormous psychological and emotional strain on personnel.
