High-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) and trabecular bone score (TBS) are two such tools that provide detailed insights into bone quality and structure. These advancements allow for early detection and risk assessment, thereby enabling personalized treatment plans for patients.
Prevention of osteoporosis should be a priority for healthcare professionals. This includes encouraging a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, regular weight-bearing exercise, and avoidance of risk factors such as smoking and excessive alcohol. This multidisciplinary approach ensures comprehensive patient care, from prevention and early detection to treatment and rehabilitation.
While osteoporosis remains a significant healthcare challenge, advancements in diagnostic tools, prevention strategies, and innovative therapies offer new avenues for effective management. An integrated care approach is essential to ensure optimal outcomes for patients, highlighting the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals in managing this complex condition.
