Pharmacotherapy should be considered for patients with moderate to severe SUDs, particularly when craving is prominent. Psychosocial interventions remain cornerstone treatments, with strong evidence for CBT, motivational enhancement, and relapse prevention strategies. Ongoing monitoring and adaptation of care plans are critical, given the dynamic nature of incentive salience and relapse risk.
